New Beginnings
The New Beginnings Re-Tell program provides an opportunity for single mothers and their children to improve their quality of life. The Re-Tell Program is designed to help economically disadvantaged women with the resources necessary to advance in self-awareness, self-esteem and employment skills. It provides participants with the resonating idea that they have the opportunity to “re-create” or “re-tell” their life’s story by starting again, in a stable environment that will offer motivation, training and technical assistance for the greater good. Ongoing program recruitment and intake occurs monthly. Participants receive intensive and comprehensive training services. The program consists of four weeks of classroom training on interviewing skills, resume preparation, technology education and more. The classroom training is followed by opportunities for on-the-job training and work experience either on site at the Zion Hill CDC, at The Z Boutique or in the offices or businesses of our community partners. The participants are given incentives to achieve their goals and are encouraged to continually seek at least permanent, part-time employment.
